News from 2016

Friday, December 16, 2016:
Friday we played one of our modest pre-Christmas games - 22 players and 8 Re-Buys.  Lots of fun and there were two Cash tables for quite awhile.  We used the Add-On with Buy-In again and it looks like a winner.  We will continue to utilize it.  Tournament play was competitive and strong.  There was a great Tounament High Hand - TTTTA won by Harold - Congradulations.  The five players who cashed in the Tournament 1st Chuck, 2nd Forrest M, 3rd Rich B, 4th Ken F and 5th Chris L.  Congradulations to those who cashed and all the good poker players who participated.  Thanks to all the players who cashed and donated to the club.
Note that we have quite a few Saturday games up coming.
Next game is will be on Saturday, January 7, 2017 and will be a NO RE-BUY - BOUNTY Tournament and has a 48 Player limit.

Saturday, December 3, 2016:
Thanks to a great suggestion by member John L we modified our game structure to not include RE-BUYS, Increase initial stack, raise the cost of BUY-IN and have the ADD-ON only at the time of the BUY-IN during this event.  This modified format along with a strong guest turn-out was largely responsible for our large 40 player field.  The game was in some respects different in "Feel" from our typical RE-BUY tournaments.  I liked it for the change, I can see it becoming a staple with our events.  Perhaps 1 in 3 games if the popularity continues.  I talked in detail to 7 of our regular players, the comments were positive but none recommend a 100% change.  So we will look for a menu of game formats to keep the events fresh.  Again thanks John L.
The 40 players and the higher cost BUY-IN ensured the prize pool was generous.  The tournament play was more careful and considered.  First place was won by Dan O who edged out Matt C (2nd) after quite a bit of back and forth chip leads.  I got third place (goes to show how random this game is) and Kyle G earned 4th coming back from tournament short stack prior to the final table a real chip and a chair story. Kyle G cashed in 5th.  Congratulations to all the players and especially "LT DAN".  The players who cashed donated a total of $70 to the club - THANKS TO YOU ALL.
The format from this game helped get the cash game going early and we had two 9 person cash tables going until after midnight.  I picked up a few hands and had a profitable cash evening.
We have changed our ADD-ON procedure.  We will now normally only have an ADD-ON at the time of the BUY-IN.

Our next and final game of 2016 is scheduled for FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2016 - SEE YOU THERE
Saturday, November 19, 2016:
We had 29 players in the tournament that resulted in a large prize pool.  The tournament play was very spirited with 4 tables busy much of the evening.  1st Place was won by one of our newer players Donna C, Runner-up and in a virtual tie until the last hand was Jon Paul, 3re place was Matt C who has cashed in many events during the past 6 months, 4th was D'Anna who played tough the whole evening and 5th was Ken F. Congratulations to all those who played and especially those who cashed.  The Tournament was a good venue for Ken F in two ways, he also won the High Hand - double congratulations.
Thank you to those winning players who donated to the club fund - we all benefit from those donations.
The Cash game started early and was a two table affair when I got busted out.  I am going to recommend to WPT to hire Harold to help narrate the games.  I think it would be more entertaining the Vince VanPatten.
The Fine Print now specifically
 includes electronic cigarettes
as being prohibited for smoking in the club house.
We have tentatively set September 2017 for the next ALL-IN for the BLUE event with lots more details coming out in February.

Our upcoming Saturday, December 3, 2016 event has a special format - check it out - should reward careful play.

We jumped at the opportunity to have an "Extra" game that was not on our original schedule.
With very little notice we scared up 25 players for a fun community based evening.
The Tournament had some exceptionally patient and well thought out play.  The Tournament High Hand (THH) was won by Doyle - QQQQK - Great Hand.
The Tournament was won (1st) Scott N who after long and spirited play took down the final pot from (2nd) D'Anna M.  3rd Kyle G, 4th Rich B and 5th Jen L.
The Cash Game had two active tables that included Cash High Hand won by Matt 9999?  Good Work Matt. This CHH was won cleanly but just under the wire, with the minimum qualifying CHH.  I did not last long enough in the cash game to provide a very good report so if in the future anyone wants to forward me some reports from the cash game great.  I will be glad to include them in our news.
The ALL-IN for the BLUE group held a meeting Friday and laid out some preliminary plans for the 2017 event.  This event promises to be more spectacular then this years.
SPECIAL NOTICE: The CASH GAME is now under the direction of Member David L.  Thank you David for stepping up.
Our next event is scheduled for November 19, 2016
Friday, October 7, 2016, A comfortable neighborhood style tournament with some top notch play led off the night. To no one surprise Kevin W took first place then Rich B 2nd. 3rd place Dennis N, 4th Martin W and Scott N was 5th. The cash game was very active and went embarrassingly long and only ended as the sun was about to rise. I did poorly losing my buy-in and a reload but some of our players did very well. The High Hand will be paid during the next cash game. One our long time players got pocket K K followed on the flop by K K J since this occurred after 1 AM we will pay it out, if it holds, at 1 AM the next game. The most memorable (painfull to me) hand of the night was when I had A K Suited and putting my opponent on a pocket pair in the J J to 8 8 range took the coin flip and two of us were all-in. Then an opponent to my right, who I had failed to consider also called the all-in. So me with A K suited player across from me T T and player to my right A A. This is not looking to good for me since I was merciless away from busting out. The A A was way ahead of the T T too. Well, no T came on the board but the River 8 gave the T T a straight  and what may have been the biggest pot of the night. By the way when I got home I looked it up, the A A was a 84% favorite before the flop. Great hand and worthy of mention. We received several donations that will go to ATO-FW.
As scheduled the ALL IN for the BLUE event was briefed to the HOA Board on Monday. The board again expressed full support for our club. All members are encouraged to both buy then sell our upcoming tournament tickets. The cost of each ticket is $50 ($30 prize pool and $20 donation). Tickets are available at the club house but I would be glad to arrange delivery to you, just email me. Remember we are limited to only 82 poker players for this event.
NEWS:  Saturday, September 17, 2017:  The September dip continued to the second game with just 20 players making it to the tournament.  The game was led by Member John L.  Thanks John.  Mary and I returned that day from our great road trip to the Grand Canyon - and we visted the second bigest canyon in the US too.  Any guesses without google?  Even or maybe because of 20 players it is reported that the play was good. A healthy rebuy pool helped with the payouts.  1st Dan F, 2nd Matt C, 3rd Gary W ,4th Steve S and 5th John C.  Congratulations to those who cashed. Thanks to Dan, Steve, and Matt for the donations to the club.  The cash game was active and ended at an earlier then usual.  Our next game is Friday, October 7, 2017.

NEWS: Saturday,September 3, 2016:  Our September respit continues, as in previous years early September showed a marked decrease in the number of our players.  This event had 23 players but yet a decent sized prize pool.  We welcomed three new members, each of whom enjoyed themselves.
The cash game had 8 players most of the time I was there, things did not go well for me.  Lost my initial stack and a reload prior to the end of the evening for me.  I was not so much card dead as brain dead. I was told this will be our final game this season that the swiming pool will be open, should be good news for parking.

The lights on the exterior of our club house, the swimming pools and the club house driveway and parking area all went dark early in the evening but they were again working by 10:30.

Congradulations to our Tournament players who cashed.  They were 1st - Dan O, 2nd - Rich G, 3rd - Rob L, 4th Kevin C and 5th Matt C.  They played great games.  Special thanks to those who cashed who made donations to the club.
NEWS: Friday, August 19, 2016:  Our normally less crowded Friday Tournament had 30 players.  It was marked by the latest final hand (11:45) for a non-Deep Stack game.  Congratulations to the five who cashed and shared in the prize pool.  1st Chris L, 2nd Jeff R, 3rd Matt C, 4th Travis D and 5th Harold D.  Great play by great players.  We especially thank Jeff R who made a donation to the club from his winnings.
Well after midnight we still had two cash tables going strong.  I was able to pocket some coffee money but left early - following a 1st grader grandson around Chuckie Cheese earlier took its toll.
Our next game is on Saturday, September 3, 2016.

News: Saturday, August 6, 2016,:  38 players, including new players and guests from as far as California enjoyed our Tournament.  Those who cashed in the Tournament were  1st Chris B, 2nd  Dennis N, 3rd Chris L, 4th Dan F, and 5th Matt Cole.  The High Hand was won by Ken with AAAJJ.
We again had about 20 cash players in an out and it settled down to about 16 players.  I was able to ineffectively bluff off two buy-ins.  I let my self justify this stupid play by being "card dead" as if I was playing with a different deck then the other players.  Anyway I have been up in each of the six prior cash games so it was time for the poker Gods to have a joke on me.  We did get to see a straight flush 4h,5h,6h,7h, 8h - the hand winner (Rob L) was able to get paid on all the streets he  bet - unfortunately both his hole cards did not play so no high hand.
Thanks to the generous Tournament winners who donated to the clubs general fund.
News: Saturday, July 23, 2016:  33 players, including some new members made this a great tournament, but it was careful, well thought out play made the tournament go on for what may have been a record time.  Those who cashed were: Matt C 1st, Doug L 2nd, Harold D 3rd, Jason A 4th and Scott N 5th.  These players were each within reach of comming out on top but Matt took it down.  Congratulation all who cashed and esspecially to Matt C.
As many as 17 cash game players used the tables until at least 4AM when I gave up.  My play was typically uninspired and lucky I dont need to earn a living with poker since  I would not do well on $10 per hour.  Kevin W may have had the big stack when I left, a few players were able to hit some good hands and had the good sense to pack up and go home ahead.
We paid Kevin W his "Royal Flush plus High Hand" incentive.  I may never get a royal but at least I can say I know someone who has.
Next game is Saturday, August 6, 2016 - See you there.
News: Friday, July 8, 2016:  28 good player and me in this Tournament.  I was knocked out on the cash bubble but still made money due to "Flop 4".  The final five had a great game with some excelent play.  Those who cashed were First Chris L, 2nd Rich G, 3rd Rich B, 4th Harold D and 5th was Pedro G.  All played well and they were fun to watch. Chuck hit flop-4 with 5555K.
The Cash game broke to two tables for awhile and some of us sampled PLO 8 or better.  We had some fun and two players were introduced to the game.  The results for the new players showed a significant variance.  I again left early, about 12:30 or so up a few bucks and a hold'em table was still very active.
An Exceptional Cash High Hand occurred a bit after 2AM.  Kevin in middle position is delt Kd - Jd, a few players in on an unraised board.  The flop comes Qd - Td - ?d (third diamond on flop is unrecalled).  This gives Kevin 2nd nut flush but more importantly an open ended Stright Flush / Royal Flush draw (and the Cash High Hand).  Being crafty Kevin checks along with all others. The Turn is a 9d which gives Kevin the Stright Flush and still a draw to the Royal Flush.  Again he and all others check (High Hand rule requires play to the River.  At this time on a TV drama they would go to a commercial break.  The River comes Ad for a royal flush, still no betting until it gets to Kevin (who wants to break out into the Happy Dance - yes that is a tell).  Kevin bets $10 and  gets one caller who is immediately to his left.  The Royal Flush gets a $42 pot, the Cash High Hand incentive and a great poker story.  The opponent was playing the board (understnadable with the checks, bet on the river and so many d out.  The opponent played good but a STRIGHT FLUSH is for many of us a once in a life time event.  For those asking what is the probability that a player will form a royal flush in seven cards, and that the seventh card dealt will be part of the royal. The probability of forming a 5-card royal flush out of 7 cards is 1 in 30940 hands played. The probability that the seventh card will be part of the royal flush is 5/7. So the final probability is  1 in 43316.  Great work Kevin
We are going to test out a new incentive that is RSVP and Seated on time dependent (I know our POKER TIMER APP started two minutes early Friday but that will be adjusted).  This incentive will award 500 in chips to those who RSVP 24 or more hours prior to the game and are seated with chips at the start of the game.  Guests of members can also qualify if the RSVP from the member was received 24 or more hours prior to the game and they are seated at the start of the game.  I can see some potential problems with this so adjustments and changes will be made on the fly.
Rumor - a number of our players are headed to Choctaw to play in the $125 buy-in $300K guarantee tournament - Good Luck.
We were told that the lighting in the "poker room" is going to be upgraded.  Thanks HOA Staff.
I learned that the front door is not closing all the way - I'll report it to the office.
Next game: Saturday, July 23, 2016
Security Update:  Member John L heads up our game safety project in response to several members concerns about the risk of theft or robbery at our games.  While we live in a statisticly "Safe" community there are steps we can take to make our games even more comforatable for all players.  This is what has been done to date:
1.  Front doors lock at 7:30PM on game nights.  Members may still enter, until midnight, by using their HOA cards on the exterior gym door.  (Note that sponsoring members are responsible for entry of any late arriveing guests)
2.  Those players using the back patio will lock those doors when patio is not in use.
3.  The PID Officers will expand patols of the club house area during scheduled games.
4.  The assigned NPO will provide crime intelligence and guidence as relates to our situation.
5.  The window shades in the poker room will remain closed.
6.  It is suggested that as players depart they do not do so alone.
7.  The club house staff fixed the front door to allow for it to close easily.  Thank you to HOA staff for quick action.ed that the part needed to allow easier closing of the front door was on order.

This is a new program and will be modified as our experiance grows.  Remember to discuss any concerns/suggestions you have with John L.
News: Saturday, June 4, 2016: Another great tournament with 29 players. The players who cashed were first Rob L, runner-up John L, 3rd Jen L, 4th Eilaine L , and 5th Deanie W. Congradulations to all those who cashed. Fine play and a good time.
Cash game was still going strong when I departed.  I made some money for the night but my last hand showed how tired play can be expensive.  I was head up against a good player who I belived had air and I had paired an 8.  The betting, at my lead was getting way to high but I was "sure" of my read.  At showdown my hand did not pair, I had misread the cards and my opponent won a good pot with nothing that beat my nothing.  I guess I will check my cards more often or quit earlier.
Our first effort to adopt a minimum level of security was fairly successful. Several players failed to close the door completely and some members failed to have their entry cards but overall not bad. Thanks John L for heading this project.
Next game is Friday, June 17, 2016.
News: Sunday, May 22, 2016:  26 HOA members met and played a hybrid Shoot-Out, Re-Buy, Bounty Hold'Em tournament with 5 tables.  The bounty and table winners were paid then the  final table was established.  The final table players were Rich G, Dan O, Kevin W, Chris L. and Matt C.  The winner was Dan O playing heads up with Kevin W which presented a great contest.  It was notiable that each Final Table player made one or more re-buy and it was almost a direct relationship in that the more Re-Buys resulted in a better finish.
Cash game was one active table, Sunday night game seems less likely to have a large number of early morning players then either Friday or Saturday.  When I left, D'Anna was doing very well.  Myself I zeroed out with Buy-In, Add-On, earning bounties and cash game being dead even.  Off to some Louisana Casinos next weekend.
Member John L worked with the Wild Wings on 377 to provide us with great wings and fries.  Thanks.
News: Friday, May 20, 2016:  ThIs wa a another great 32 player tournament with a $1500+ prize pool.  First place was won by Doug L, runner-up Rich B, 3rd John L, 4th Kevin W and 5th Justin B Congratulations for the fine performances.
The cash game supported to full tables for quite awhile.  When I left Kevin W seemed to dominating.  My play was uninspired and weak.  My losses exceeded my winnings on the 7th by $20, just not a winning strategy.  A good player to two to my left lost to me when I doubled by hitting  an inside stright on the river - luck.  I should not have been in the hand.  This did not save me from losing a several big hands - all but one, on reflection, due to my poor play.
NEWS: Friday, May 7, 2016 was a great 30 player tournament that had a prize pool of $1530 - not bad for a home game. First place was won by Harold D, 2nd by New Member Bryant L, 3rd by Mary B, 4th D'Anna M, and 5th by New Member Robert H.  The Flop 4 (QQQQ) was won by Scott  N.  Congradulations to the winners. Welcome to our new members Robert H and Bryant L.  Noted was bad runs with pocket AA by both Mary B and John L.
The cash game was active for 8 or 9 players until the morning hours.  I made a few bucks but Dan O, Chris L and Rich G all seemed to do fine.  I was not very alert and may have missed some other big stacks during the evening.
Kelly K, Bryant L and Robert H are all new members, Welcome.

On Friday May 20 is our next regularly scheduled game, and the Members Only Torunament ($1000 for the winner and bounties and shoot out style will be on Sunday, May 22, 2016 see the invite page for details and invites on both of these events.
Game News, Saturday, 4/16/16:  Good Tournament and Cash Game.   Troy T is our newest member, welcome Troy. The Tournament had just at 30 players and for the first time we had identical back to back prize pools of $1,410.  First place was won by Rich B, runner-up was Justin B, 3rd was Ken M, 4th Sumant M and 5th Stephen C.  Tournament High Hand Incentive was snaged by Dennis N. Congradulations to all the winners.  The cash game had two tables, 17 players, for an hour or two but settled down to one table.  Jen L and Chris L seemed to be doing well.  My results were disappointing.  I was down a bit by the relatively early closing time of the game.  Chris L ran the cash game for Kevin W who was on a well earned break.
FRIDAY, 4/1/16, game included pizza and soft drinks provided by the club.  The JET'S Pizza was tasty and by the time I left all but a few pieces had been consumed.
The Tournament had 30 players and a $1,410 prize pool.  First place was won by Matt C, runner-up was Deanie W, 3rd Andy A, 4th John C and 5th Rich G.  I was called to a table where I saw a winning hand, from the flop, get beat on the river by the conterfiting of the lower of pair of a two pair hand.  Heart breaking, we have all been there - but it hurts.
It is wonderful to see the great turnout we have for our cash games, by count we had up to 17 players for some of the evening and by the time I left, just after 3, there was still a six handed game. Kirby N hit straight flush for the Cash High Hand. I got lucky early on and came out a bit ahead but I did note some good sized stacks at the tables so many players did much better than I did.  Congratulations to all the winners.
Incentive - We have added a bonus of $100 to both the Tournament and Cash High Hand for those who have qualified Royal Flush, see Incentives for details.
Lighting (4/6/16)- Players mentioned that the lighting level in the poker room seemed deficient.  I contacted the HOA staff and they installed bulbs of about 35% greater luminance.  These bulbs were found to exceed the safe size for the fixture and were removed.  The staff is trying several other bulbs and stated they would obtain a quote to add fixtures.  Thank you Staff, we appreciate your efforts.
Membership - I sent an email to those members who have not attended a game in awhile to see if they wish to remain on the email list.  So far we have received about 20 responses from those who expect to attend an HPC event again and wish to continue to receive our emails.  I am doing this to ensure our emails are only transmitted to those who wish to receive them.
Photographer (4/6/16) -
Eilaine L, one of our best players volunteered her talent as a photographer to make this a much better web site.
Thanks - Mary for being our cashier, John for being the Treasurer, Eilaine for photos, Kevin for the cash games and the players such as Chris, Rich and Jeff who often help out in setting up and coloring  up.
Friday, 3/18/16 was a well attended regular event with 30 very competitive tournament players.  The fight to get to the cash in the $1,620 prize pool was both fierce and showed a wide range of poker skills.  Kevin W reported enrolling in the AnyTime Fitness membership that he won in the previous event.
First Place was won by Deanie W,; Runner-Up Jeff R.; 3rd Justin B,; 4th Kirby N.; and 5th Stephen C.  The High Hand Incentive (JJJJA) was won by Bill D.  Congradulations to those who cashed and all the players for being so competitive.  Several of the winners of the tournament made a donation to the club, Thank You.
The Cash Game was again popular with two active tables and some solid play shown.  From my own stand point all went well till about 2AM when I got into a hand that I should have avoided.  A set of queens smashed my kings.  Not till the river did I understand my opponent was not going to be moved off his superior hand.  I aplied the brakes and the river was checked so I was able to end my evening up a few dollars.  I had gotten lucky earlier in the evening in hittinq quad 3's while another player had a full house, so I got paid off in a hand where I was behind until the river.
I wish to thank all the players for working hard to make our game great.
Our next game will be on Friday, April 1, 2016 and will include pizza for all players.
Our Saturday, 3/5/16 game was notable and fun.  The 37 players (7 less then initially responded to include guests) had a great time and seems to track with HPC growth.  Let me start with thanking members Robert L and John L for promoting our club.
Robert L donated a 6 month membership to AnyTime Fitness in Keller that was randomly drawn.  The winner of this great prize was cash game Czar and iron man fitness guru Kevin W.  Kevin W questioned the on-tap beer selections at AnyTime Fitness. Congratulation Kevin and thank you  Robert L.
John L arranged the donation of hundreds of Buffalo Wild Wings for a snack during the break.  Kind of a family thing for John L, his kids work there and his wife picked-up, delivered and set up the Wings, sauces etc to the club house.  The food was great and appreciated.  Thanks to John L, his family and the manager at Buffalo Wild Wings on 377.
Our 37 Tournament players resulted in a $2250 prize pool.  First place was won by Robert L, Runner-up was Garry W, 3rd Rich (prime number) G, 4th Howard G and 5th Ken Moore.  Congratulations players and thanks to those who made a club donation.  The play resulted in no particularly huge chip advantage until Robert L got wound-up and playing some big hands.  This resulted in the collapse of the table under the multiple stacks of chips he acquired. The Tournament High Hand Incentive was won by Pedro G with 4444K, there was no Flop 4 winner.  There were many dramatic TV worthy poker hands, one that I found notable went to showdown with 7 8 going against 8 8 with board running out to J 7 8 5 7 resulting in 777/88 being piped by 888/77.  Boat over boat is always fun to watch (not so much for player who is edged out) but this dramatic.  Lucky I didn't play some how think I would of stayed in with a flush and been beaten by everyone.
Our popular cash game was action packed as usual, I even pocketed a few dollars.
I did note a few procedural items that I wish to address:

First, something we all do from time to time.  Keep your cards and chips in view,  Shielding your cards or chips delays the game while players strain to see if you are in the hand or the size of your stack, of course higher value chips should be the easiest to see.  Lets all watch this to help the game move along.
Second falls into the general category of Slow Roll.  I noticed an extreme version of this at my table.
One player, who correctly turned over his cards after the river and announced Kings since he had and showed a pair of Kings (from a board that showed a king and queen) was slow rolled by his opponent who did not, in a timely fashion, display or muck his cards and then mumbled queen.  The king player, I would imagine, took this to be an acknowledgment of having won the hand and that the other player did not wish to display his cards.  About the time the Kings player reached for the chips the Slow Roll player then displayed his cards and announced and showed he had three queens and claimed the pot. Wrong on a lot of levels but to me this type of behavior does not seem to work to advance our games.
Third, myself and others have a bad habit of joking and commenting on cash game hands.  I know I need to work on ensuring that nothing I say would be hand specific.  Even the general comment by a player in a multi-way hand or an observer at any time that there are straight of flush considerations may cause a player to view their hand differently and effect the outcome, so for me and the others who like to comment, wait for the hand to be over.
Sad Memory:  One of our regular players, Dave Johnson passed away last week.  He will be missed.

Saturday, 2/20/16: Less hectic pace and turnout with "only" 22 players and a prize pool of $1080.  Fun game with some drama at the final table as Andy A and Chris L battled for first place.  At the end of the night it was Andy A First, Chris L second, 3rd Rich B, 4th Randy F and 5th Jeff B.  I got lucky on the first hand of night with 33337 that made it to the second break as high hand and Jeff B won the flop 4.
Even with the light turnout we had two great cash tables.  Chris L earned the Cash High Hand with 9999K from after 1AM of the previous event.  I had a great time playing and enjoyed every minute with the possible exception of going into the flop 3 handed with AA and getting beat by both other players.  They enjoyed spliting up my bets.  Overall the night was good to me and I made a dollor or two.
Some hardware came loose on the door to the patio but last I heard the HOA staff was addressing the issue.

Friday,2/5/16:  Wow a $1,770 prize pool. 36 players for a total of 59 buy-ins.  First prize was won by, who else, wait for it, Kevin W.  Runner up was Matt C, 3rd was Jeff B, 4th was Randy F and 5th was won by Rodney H.  The Tournament High Hand and Floop Four was won by Kirby N who also got paid off in the hand.  He donated a major portion of his winning to club. Thank You Kirby.
Two Cash tables played until 3AM then many of us stayed an addional hour or more.  I think, (not sure since I was falling asleep) I ended up ahead a few bucks.
Club house management has made it possible to change some of our up coming Friday Night games to Saturday.  Keep an eye out for schedule changes since we will only have two weeks or less notice of the change.
Two new members joined:  Jeff M and Cody G - welcome to the club.
Keep an eye out one of our members is considering a very nice promotion/drawing - detail later.
Our next game will be Saturday 2/10/16.
--------Special Sneak Advance notice:  the Saturday 3/5/16 game will be DEEP STACK...more info to come
Friday, 1/22/16:  First Friday in more then a year and we still had a good turnout 35 players and a prize pool of $1590.  First Prize was earned by Matt D, Runner-up was D'Anna M, 3rd Kevin K, 4th Kevin W and 5th Jeff B.  Game was very close at a number of points many stack sizes were very nearly equal. High Hand in the Tournament was won by John L with 7777J and our new Flop "4" was won by Chris L.  Congratulations winners - we will be hunting for you.
Two cash tables until after 12, this is wonderful.  I stayed to three building up a small respectful stack until I got really stupid against Kevin W.  AQ is so weak I am embarrassed I call a big bet by Kevin W pre-flop.  I should have been out of there.  Good Job Kevin W.
Word of a new local card room was circulated.  If management wishes more details to be posted we of course would be happy to help.
The "Flop 4" was won the first night, guess it is not as unusual as I thought.  If the incentive needs to be adjusted in the future we will notify you.
Jen and her daughter gave us a chance to obtain Girl Scout Cookies - Jen sent an email reporting that 21 boxes were bought by club players - thank you.  I just learned that much of the profit to the troop is used to send cookies to the troops.  If I had known at the time I would have felt a need to buy additional cookies - I know I sure would of liked some when deployed.
Tiffany Macleod, a key member of the club house staff who assists with the club had a baby boy "Liam" on 1/14.  Liam was busy and did not play last night but we will hold a seat for him.  He, along with other photos are posted at photo album.
Saturday, 1/9/16: "What A Tournament," 48 players, a couple of new members and a prize pool of $2400.  A record for both participation and the size of the prize pool.  First place was won Ben G (at one point his stack threatened, due to its great size, the stability of the poker table), runner-up was Matt B who played a very good game, third was David J, fourth John L and 5th was Bill D who played a great game.   Congratulations to one and all of those who cashed.  As if being first in our largest tournament was not enough Ben G also won the high hand incentive with AAAAK and one or two other hands that would have otherwise qualified for high hand.  Way to go Ben G, I am not envious I am not envious, I am not envious.
We had two active cash tables and the jokes, cutting comments and money flowed.  We all appreciate the skill and effort that Kevin W demonstrates in handling these games.
One of players was Marcy W, who runs a room in Fort Worth - She is a friend, has a good 1-3 hold em cash game, active tournaments and usually a weekly evening of Omaha.  Several of our members spoke with her.  Thanks for visiting Marcy.
We tested our new outdoor space heater for the patio, all went well, nothing blew-up.  Ill try to get a picture of it for our Photo Album.
Look for an added "FLOP 4" $100 Incentive rolled out in time for our next event - thank John C for the idea.
Chris L conducted a survey of members for a March Madness project.  If he gets enough support he may promote this chance to fatten your bank roll.
We received a thoughtful thank you card from the club house staff.  Shown on the photo album page
Our next event is Friday, January 22, 2016, note that we now will average only one Saturday game each month.  This change was made to ensure our fellow Heritage neighbors have ample opportunity  to use the club house.
